Our nursing team consists of both qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses and Student Veterinary Nurses who are completing their training with us. Nurses are a very important part of the team, and are vital for the smooth running of our practice. Seeing a Veterinary Nurse can be a great way to introduce your healthy pet to our practice, and get them used to the idea of coming in. We run various nurse led clinics, including:
- New puppy/kitten checks
- Weight clinics
- Dental checks
- Progress checks
- Nutrition clinics
- Post-operative checks
- Suture & staple removal
- Nail clipping
- Ear cleaning
We offer nurse consultations from Monday to Saturday by appointment and are happy to offer you advice on your pet’s welfare and husbandry, as well as post operative checks following surgery. Most of these clinics are free of charge, with only nail clips and ear cleaning as chargeable consults, which are currently £12 (March 2023). If the nurse feels that your pet needs to see the Veterinary Surgeon they will be able to refer you.
If you are new to pet ownership, we understand that giving your new pet the best start in life can seem like a minefield. We invite all puppies and kittens to attend monthly progress checks with our veterinary nurses after they have completed their initial course of vaccinations. Our team of nurses will work with you to develop a parasite control plan that works for you and your pet, and his/her lifestyle. For example, if you have young children at home, or your pet is an active hunter, we might recommend more frequent worming. We can also recommend the best diet for your pet. All of our nurses are trained insurance advisers, and can discuss the insurance policies available for dogs and cats. We can even issue you with 4 weeks free cover. If you would like to see a particular nurse please let us know when you make your appointment. We are happy to arrange your appointment around our rota to allow this.
